About Anthony


Anthony Dissen, MA, RDN has been a life-long student of nutrition, holistic health, and spirituality.  The entire course of his life changed when he discovered Macrobiotic philosophy as a teenager, leading to a powerful improvement of his health and a new outlook on life. This incredible experience lead him to the study of Macrobiotic philosophy , Classical Chinese medicine, holistic and integrative health, and plant-based nutrition. Anthony is a Registered Dietitian, focusing in plant-based nutrition and motivational counseling,  which he combines with his ongoing training and studies in integrative, functional, and holistic approaches to health and wellness promotion.

 

Since beginning his own healing journey, Anthony has gained extensive training and education in a variety of holistic health fields. Anthony is a graduate of David and Cynthia Briscoe's Macrobiotics America-Macrobiotics Global Counselor Training program, which has shaped the foundation of his personal and professional approach to counseling and education. Additionally, Anthony has studied with various other experts in the fields of both Classical Eastern Medicine, Yoga, and Holistic Philosophy including Christina Pirello, Gopali Vaccarelli, Gary Carbone, and Suzin Green. Anthony utilizes various healing modalities and therapies in his personal and professional health practices including Medical Qigong, Hypnotherapy, Meditation, and Yoga. 

​A life-long student of spirituality, Anthony also writes, lectures, and practices a holistic and pluralistic view of spirituality utilizing teachings from traditions including Buddhism, Hinduism, Tantra, Taoism, Judaism and Christianity. He utilizes this approach to spirituality to guide himself and others along the path of self-discovery and actualization in this lifetime. He has recently begun to explore the practice and philosophy of Shamanic medicine and spirituality. 

 

Anthony completed his 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2014, and holds a Masters of Arts in Holistic Health Studies from Georgian Court University and a certificate in Plant Based Nutrition from eCornell. Additionally, Anthony is an Instructor at Stockton University in the School of Health Sciences, and has been an adjunct instructor at Georgian Court University and Rutgers University. Anthony also works as a Integrative Health Educator and Dietitian at CentraState Medical Center, and works with a number of local health and wellness organizations including the Breast Cancer Resource Center of New Jersey and Gilda's Club of South Jersey. To continue his professional development, Anthony is a Master of Public Health student at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst with an emphasis in Public Health Nutrition.
